The goal of this project was to enhance the Magna gaming chair by integrating the Elements brand identity into the chair. To create a signature design for the company, custom accessories such as casters, armrests, and a logo-inspired footrest were developed. These elements were designed not only to reinforce brand recognition but also to improve functionality and aesthetics. To ensure feasibility and ergonomic performance, the accessories were 3D-modeled in SolidWorks and prototyped using 3D printing for testing and refinement.
Researched the company’s production process and collaborated with Chinese manufacturers to explore customization possibilities. Designed a new sewing pattern with the Elements logo, selected fabrics, and sourced factories for custom casters and armrests. Developed a signature metal seal for branding and designed a conceptual footrest. Modeled all components in SolidWorks, with key accessories 3D-printed for testing.
The research phase focused on understanding the production capabilities of the company and its manufacturing partners. This involved analyzing the existing chair production process and communicating with Chinese manufacturers to assess their machinery, techniques, and customization possibilities. The goal was to determine feasible modifications without disrupting production efficiency. Additionally, materials research was conducted to select suitable fabrics for the chair, ensuring durability and brand alignment. Investigations into manufacturing options for custom casters and armrests led to partnerships with Chinese factories capable of producing high-quality, branded components.
With the research phase completed, the next step was selecting materials and refining the design. Fabrics were carefully chosen to ensure durability, comfort, and alignment with the brand’s identity. A new sewing pattern incorporating the Elements logo was created to enhance the chair’s visual appeal. In parallel, manufacturing options for custom casters and armrests were explored, leading to partnerships with factories capable of producing high-quality, branded components. To further reinforce brand identity, a signature metal seal was developed as a distinctive mark on the final product. Additionally, a conceptual footrest inspired by the company’s logo was designed as an extra feature. All components, including casters, armrests, and the footrest, were 3D-modeled in SolidWorks. To validate the designs, the casters and armrests were prototyped using 3D printing, allowing for functional testing and refinement before final production. This structured process ensured that all elements met both aesthetic and functional requirements, enhancing the Magna gaming chair while maintaining manufacturability.
This project successfully enhanced the Magna gaming chair by integrating Elements’ brand identity into both its design and accessories. Through careful material selection, custom sewing patterns, and the development of branded components such as casters, armrests, and a signature metal seal, the chair achieved a distinctive and cohesive look. The addition of a conceptual footrest further reinforced the brand’s presence. By leveraging 3D modeling in SolidWorks and prototyping key elements through 3D printing, the designs were tested and refined to ensure both aesthetic appeal and manufacturability. This process resulted in a well-executed product upgrade that balanced innovation, functionality, and brand recognition.
