The goal of the Ontario Park Kiosk App was to create an intuitive touchscreen experience that provides accessible information about Ontario’s park system and history. It aims to educate visitors on park classifications and the activities suitable for each type of park. Overall, the project focused on delivering a seamless and interactive interface optimized for public kiosks.
Research & Content Strategy – Conducted in-depth research on Ontario Parks to structure the app’s information.
Wireframing & UX Design – Created wireframes to define the user flow and screen layouts.
UI Design & Branding – Designed all kiosk screens with a focus on clarity, accessibility, and visual appeal.
Front-End Development – Coded the application using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to bring the design to life.
Animations & Interactivity – Implemented JavaScript animations to enhance the user experience and create smooth transitions.
The project began with in-depth research into Ontario Provincial Parks, focusing on key topics such as park classifications, recreational activities, and ecological impact. This research informed the content and structure of the application.
Once the information architecture was defined, I created wireframes to map out the user flow and ensure an intuitive experience. From there, I designed the UI for all screens, balancing aesthetics with accessibility to create an engaging yet functional interface.
The development phase involved coding the app using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, ensuring a smooth experience on touchscreen kiosks. Interactive elements were enhanced with JavaScript animations, making navigation feel fluid and natural.
The final result is a fully designed and animated prototype of the Ontario Park Kiosk App, offering visitors a self-guided, interactive way to explore park history, visitor activities, and conservation efforts. The app’s structure includes:
Home Screen: A menu leading to key sections.
Ontario Parks History & Organization: Informative visuals and text about the park system.
Visitor Information & Park Activities: Details on classifications and appropriate recreational activities.
Boreal Forest Songbird Nursery: Insights into the role of Ontario’s forests in bird migration.
This project showcases expertise in research, wireframing, UI design, development, and animation, delivering an interactive experience that enhances visitor engagement.
